I'm an Oakland, CA based artist, primarily working in acrylic and gesso on wood, window, canvas, or other often discarded materials. I specialize in watercolor and portraiture. I'm constantly drawn to facial expression and love the challenge of capturing a person's mood, essence, and emotion. I work from my abstract backgrounds and find forms to complete my pieces to represent the chaos of life in which we inject order and routine to ground us as human beings. I try and let the viewer take what they will away from the pieces I create, without putting too much meaning into any particular part. My earlier work focuses on human interaction, emotion, connectedness, and the implications of how our brains work to provide meaning to matter, space, and time.
